Three rules that stop most scams

Most frauds in India rely on one of these misunderstandings. Share them with your family.

Your UPI PIN only ever sends money
Nobody needs you to scan, approve or enter a PIN to pay you. If you are receiving money, there is nothing to do.
2
No real officer arrests you on a video call
"Digital arrest" does not exist in Indian law. Hang up, tell your family, and call 1930.
3
A real job never asks you to pay first
Registration fees, deposits to "unlock" earnings, and paid task jobs are all the same scam.

Frequently asked questions

What is Shravya Digital?

A free library of plain-language guides and short courses on staying safe from scams in India: UPI and payment fraud, fake calls, fake loan apps, job scams and more. Read online, download the PDF, or take the short courses and earn a pathway certificate.

Is it really free?

Yes. Reading the guides, downloading the PDFs, taking the assessments and receiving the pathway certificate are all free. You only need a free Shravya account to take an assessment, so your progress and certificate are yours.

I have just lost money to a scam. What should I do first?

Call 1930, the national cybercrime helpline, or report at cybercrime.gov.in straight away, and tell your bank the same day using the number on your card, passbook or bank app. Report to both: money still in the fraudster’s account can sometimes be put on hold.

Is the certificate a government qualification?

No. It is a Pathway Certificate (Certificate of Achievement) issued by Shravya Digital, showing you passed every course in a free awareness pathway. It is not a government, accredited or professional qualification.

How can someone check that a certificate is genuine?

Every certificate has its own ID and a verification page at shravyadigital.com/verify/ followed by that ID, showing the holder’s name, the pathway and its courses, and the date it was issued.

Can I share the guides and PDFs?

Please do. The PDFs are free to share with family, friends, schools and community groups, as they are.

Where does the information come from?

Each guide is checked against primary sources, such as RBI directions, NPCI circulars, Ministry of Home Affairs alerts and Department of Telecommunications services, which are listed and dated at the end of every guide. Rules change, so if a guide looks out of date, trust the source.
